Scalejet is seeking a Senior Product Designer/Industrial Designer for a remote, full-time engagement. Lead end-to-end design of patient care products from concept to production, translating caregiver feedback and VOC into manufacturable solutions with strong ergonomics and usability.

You will apply materials knowledge, create CAD models, and use FEA to validate designs before prototyping, collaborating with engineers and suppliers to meet cost targets and timelines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Industrial Design or Product Design.
• 2+ years designing mass-produced consumer, HME, or DME products.
• Experience taking products from concept to mass production.
• Experience in mechanical design, prototyping, simulation, and testing.
• Experience working with manufacturing and supplier constraints.
• Experience communicating with Asian/Chinese manufacturers.
• Experience designing for marketplaces influenced by public reviews.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape.
• Experience with cost modeling and margin-focused design decisions.
• Strong analytical skills and user-centered design mindset.

Our client is a fast-growing eCommerce company in the Patient Care space with a large presence in the Home Medical Equipment (HME) and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) niche. They are seeking a highly experienced professional to fill an immediate full-time remote Senior Product Designer/Industrial Designer opening.

As the Senior Product Designer/Industrial Designer, you will lead the design and development of next-generation patient care products - from concept through production - translating caregiver feedback, customer reviews, and competitive insights into profitable, manufacturable solutions with exceptional ergonomics, usability, and functional detail.

This is a full-time, remote independent contractor position.

This is a Full-Time | Fully Remote position reporting to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end design process from concept development to production-ready solutions, ensuring all designs go through rigorous DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analysis.
• Translate internal product briefs, caregiver feedback, VOC data, and customer reviews into innovative, user-centered product concepts.
• Apply deep materials knowledge to select the most suitable materials that balance aesthetic with structural durability and cost-efficiency.
• Create advanced CAD models and detailed technical design and engineering documentation, utilizing FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and structural simulations to validate mechanical integrity and performance before prototyping.
• Design and validate mockups, prototypes, and functional test samples.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, sourcing partners, and marketing to balance creativity with cost targets, supplier capabilities, and timelines.
• Optimize design-to-prototype cycle times and improve design efficiency.
• Maintain high standards of manufacturability, functional performance, and customer satisfaction (targeting 4.5+ product ratings).
• Communicate effectively with international manufacturing partners, including Asian/China suppliers.

Expected Outcomes:

• Deliver 4–6 fully engineered, manufacturable product designs within the first 3 months.
• Develop final production-ready samples of 12–18 new SKUs by the end of 2026.
• Achieve 30% contribution margin in design cost modeling.
• Optimize and meet quarterly design-to-prototype cycle time targets within the first 6 months.
• Implement a structured, user-driven design process for top legacy products within 12 months.
• Establish and maintain a repeatable, scalable design documentation system.
