Job summary

MainStreaming, Milano-based, invites a seasoned Network Engineer to oversee capacity planning and the operation of our network infrastructure. You will configure, monitor, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and links, optimizing BGP routes and ensuring high availability. Strong TCP/IP, OSPF/BGP, and scripting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Telco network operations and engineering.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP (LAN and WAN), OSPF and BGP.
• Setup and troubleshooting of Cisco and other network devices from scratch.
• Good knowledge of Bash scripting and Shell commands.
• Advanced configuration of open-source network monitoring utilities with custom scripts.
• Strong understanding of network security principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• CCNP or equivalent certification is mandatory
• CCIE or equivalent certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and/or optimize network connections, peerings, and BGP routing.
• Implement and maintain network configurations to optimize performance and security.
• Monitor and analyze network traffic to identify and resolve performance issues.
• Conduct regular reviews of routing policies and update as necessary to ensure optimal traffic flow.
• Conduct capacity planning to ensure the network can handle future growth and increased traffic.
• Execute network upgrades and expansions based on capacity requirements.
• Develop strategies to optimize network capacity and performance.
• Implement network architectures that ensure high availability, redundancy, and resiliency.
• Evaluate and deploy solutions to improve network fault tolerance and minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate resilient network designs into overall infrastructure.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures.
• Generate detailed reports on network performance, capacity planning, and project status.
• Ensure all network documentation adheres to industry standards and best practices.
• Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in network engineering.
• Propose and implement improvements to network infrastructure and operations.
• Mentor junior network engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Manage and maintain relationships with other ISP and network Supplier
• Preferred experience with or exposure to CDN infrastructures.

We are looking for a:

To oversee capacity planning and ensure the smooth operation of our network infrastructure. This role requires expertise in the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of all network devices, connections, links, peerings, and BGPs, as well as the ability to design resilient network architectures.

• Good Knowledge of BASH scripting and Shell command
• Advanced configuration of opensource network monitor utilities with custom scripts (common Linux script languages)
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

CCNP or equivalent certification is mandatory
