MainStreaming S.p.A. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer/ Data Engineer for our Milano Bicocca office.

You will build and optimize scalable data pipelines, design backend services, and collaborate with data scientists and frontend teams to deliver robust data solutions. The role emphasizes code quality, testing, and documentation, with a focus on real-time and batch processing, ETL/ELT, and data governance within an international engineering culture.

Qualificações

• Experience with distributed systems design and data pipelines.
• Proficient in API design and backend services.
• Strong OOP skills and solid C#/.NET knowledge.
• Good SQL skills and relational databases.
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

Responsabilidades

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing (ETL/ELT).
• Translate data models into scalable implementations and develop data ingestion/processing code.
• Design and maintain backend services and APIs for internal/external consumers.
• Implement validation, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and other teams to deliver reliable datasets.

For our brand-new office located in Milano Bicocca we are looking for a:

Senior Backend Engineer/ Data Engineer

The backend engineer we’re looking for is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing data systems and pipelines that support the organization’s data flow needs.

Operating within the Data Platform engineering team, you will also collaborate closely with backend/frontend teams and other stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing (ETL/ELT), from source systems to data lakes, warehouses and lakehouses
• Translate existing data models into scalable and efficient implementations
• Develop, test and optimize code for data ingestion, transformation and loading
• Design and maintain backend services and APIs that expose data to internal and external consumers (e.g. UIs, Grafana dashboards), ensuring stability and performance
• Implement validation, monitoring and alerting to ensure data quality and integrity
• Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to guarantee system stability
• Contribute to the selection of tools and frameworks for data processing and orchestration
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Scientists, Analytics and backend/frontend teams to deliver reliable datasets
• Ensure best practices through code reviews, testing and documentation

Skills:

• Solid knowledge of distributed systems and their design principles
• Experience in API design and development
• Strong object-oriented programming (OOP) skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft .NET and C#
• Good command of SQL and relational databases
• Solid understanding of data structures

Nice to have

• Experience with Big Data tools
• Knowledge of ClickHouse
• Familiarity with messaging systems (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience creating and managing containers (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and architectures
