Job summary

PAION AG in Italy is seeking a Senior Key Account Manager to drive growth in the local hospital market. You will lead a small local team of two KAMs, develop strategic account plans, manage tenders, and build strong relationships with clinicians and procurement teams while collaborating with European colleagues.

The role requires 4–5 years in pharma or medical sales, hospital exposure, and fluency in Italian and English. Willingness to travel and reside near Rome is expected.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of pharmaceutical or medical sales, hospital exposure preferred.
• Proven ability to build relationships, identify opportunities and drive results.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and closing skills.
• Experience in hospital tendering, procurement and stakeholder management.
• Background in anesthesia, critical care, sepsis or infectious diseases is a plus.
• Good understanding of acute/critical care pathways and reimbursement processes.
• Initial leadership or coaching experience with team development.
• Fluent in Italian and English; Rome area resident; willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic account plans for target hospitals and networks.
• Identify new opportunities and drive adoption, utilization and account development.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with anesthesiologists, intensivists, infectious disease specialists, pharmacists, procurement teams and hospital decisionmakers.
• Navigate complex hospital organizations to identify decisionmakers and influence purchasing pathways.
• Lead and support tender processes, contract negotiations and product implementation.
• Provide product- and application-specific knowledge transfer, bridging clinical and commercial aspects.
• Represent PAION Pharma at medical congresses, educational meetings and regional events.
