Fortidia Milan headquarters seeks a Senior Java Developer to design and implement scalable software solutions and guide a small team of external developers. You will work under the Software Architect Manager to evolve the technical landscape and move toward broader architecture responsibilities.

The role focuses on delivering robust Java-based systems, ensuring quality and security, and leading architectural decisions while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

Competenze

• Master’s degree in information technology or similar field.
• 7+ years’ experience in a similar role with a strong programming track record.
• Proficient in Java 8/21, Spring Boot and Quarkus.
• Experience with RESTful APIs + JSON and SOAP APIs; familiarity with message brokers.
• Knowledge of OpenShift or Kubernetes; microservices architecture.
• Experience with MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL and AWS a plus.
• Strong English written and spoken skills.
• Problem solving, structured approach, multitasking and prioritization.

For our Milan Headquarter we are seeking a Senior Java Developer, directly reporting to the Software Architect Manager. The main role of this figure is to develop and implement software solutions according to the predefined functional analysis and application architecture, ensuring the quality, scalability, performance and maintainability of the code. The Senior Java Developer will also be responsible for coordinating and providing technical guidance to a small team of vendor-provided developers, overseeing their day-to-day activities and ensuring the quality and consistency of their deliverables.

The role is designed for an experienced engineer who wants to expand their impact from individual contribution and team-level technical leadership toward broader software architecture responsibilities.

Working closely with the Software Architect Manager, the candidate will progressively take ownership of more complex design and architectural decisions, contribute to the evolution of the organizations technical landscape, and develop the skills and experience required to progress toward a Junior Software Architect role within approximately 12–18 months, based on demonstrated capabilities and organizational needs.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Leads and coordinates the development and implementation of Java-based software solutions according to the defined functional requirements and application architecture.
• Provides technical guidance and support to a small team of external developers, coordinating their activities and ensuring the quality and consistency of their deliverables.
• Translates functional requirements and architectural guidelines into robust, scalable, maintainable, secure and high-quality software implementations.
• Reviews code and technical solutions, ensuring adherence to development standards, best practices, security requirements and established technology guidelines.
• Identifies and evaluates technical solutions, improvements, and implementation alternatives to address functional and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborates with the Software Architect Manager and other technical stakeholders to ensure that implementations are aligned with the defined application architecture and technology stack.
• Supports troubleshooting, performance optimization, and resolution of complex technical issues throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contributes to the continuous improvement of development practices, tools, frameworks, and technical standards.

Skills and experiences:

• Master’s degree in information technology or similar fields
• Min 7 years’ experience in a similar position with a clear track record in programming
• Excellent Knowledge of Java 8 and 21, Spring Boot, Quarkus, RESTful API + Json and Soap API, RedHat Openshift or Kubernates, Message Broker (RabbitQM, Kafka)
• Knowledge of one or more of the following DBs and cloud services appreciated: MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, AWS (nice to have)
• Knowledge of micro-services based infrastructure
• Excellent mastery of written and spoken English
• Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently
• Structured approach, process oriented, multi-tasking and ability to prioritize
• Willing to learn, showing enthusiasm for technology with a proactive attitude
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to interact professionally in a multi-cultural environment and great team work attitude

Compensation:

50.000 - 60.000 annual gross salary + bonus + benefits. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity criteria aligned with our compensation framework.
