Job summary

Hermes Corporate in Italy seeks an experienced AI & HPC Infrastructure Engineer to operate, optimize and evolve high-performance computing infrastructure supporting engineering and scientific workloads.

The role is hands-on, requires strong Linux/HPC expertise, ownership of production platforms, troubleshooting complex systems, and improvements across GPU compute, storage, networking, containers, and performance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Linux systems engineering and administration at an advanced level.
• Experience operating production HPC environments and cluster administration.
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA GPU compute infrastructure and software stack.
• Experience containerising HPC workloads with GPU access and multi-node workloads.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills in complex compute infra.
• Proven end-to-end ownership of production infrastructure.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; production mindset.
• Proficiency in English for technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain GPU compute infrastructure, including drivers and software stack.
• Operate and optimise HPC clusters for reliability and performance.
• Define resource allocation policies for diverse workloads.
• Manage containerised environments, provisioning, and GPU access.
• Maintain shared storage and high-speed interconnects.
• Lead performance engineering: profiling, benchmarking and bottleneck analysis.
• Support integration of applications on GPU-accelerated HPC platforms.
• Provide incident response and change management; maintain monitoring and docs.
• Contribute to security, governance, and platform standards.
