Job summary

Starion is seeking an HPC System Engineering Expert to support a complex Linux-based HPC environment at ESA ESRIN in Frascati, Italy. The role focuses on administration, performance tuning, and evolution of the HPC platform while enabling data pipelines with Power BI and Power Apps.

You will handle workload management, incident resolution, and lifecycle planning, collaborating with vendors and cross‑functional teams to ensure robust, scalable infrastructure and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience, including 3 years in HPC engineering/administration.
• Strong Linux/Unix HPC background with job scheduling, storage and data management.
• Experience with MPI/OpenMP and container tech like Docker/Singularity.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux/Unix-based HPC clusters and services.
• Configure workload management systems (e.g., Slurm, PBS) and monitor utilisation.
• Perform root-cause analysis of hardware, OS, network and software issues.
• Plan patches, upgrades and lifecycle management of HPC infrastructure.
• Contribute to Power BI dashboards and data processing in Azure/on-premises.
