Leaf Space in Lomazzo, Italy ( hybrid work model ) is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own the core ground-segment software and mesh-network data handling. You will design and maintain cloud-based services, implement protocols, and drive engineering quality end-to-end.

You’ll collaborate with mission analysis, network, and platform teams, contributing to architecture discussions and CI/CD practices in a fast-moving space-scale‑up.

Competenze

• 5–7 years building production software
• Ownership of significant components or systems
• Strong Linux experience
• Cloud and distributed services experience
• Networking protocol design/implementation
• Familiarity with space data systems and DTN or mesh routing is a plus
• Secure software development practices awareness

Mansioni

• Design, build and maintain core software components for the mesh network's ground segment and data-handling services.
• Implement and integrate protocols and services for space data systems across the link between spacecraft and ground.
• Develop network software — protocol handling, routing, and data transport.
• Design and operate cloud-based, distributed services that are scalable, observable, and resilient.
• Contribute to design reviews, interface definitions and architecture discussions.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and champion CI/CD and best practices.
• Share knowledge and support other engineers through code reviews.
• Collaborate with mission analysis, network, and platform teams to turn requirements into robust software.
