trtwo is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable microservices for a fintech payments platform. You will work on RESTful APIs, high‑performance data stores, and secure code practices within a remote‑first environment.

You’ll collaborate with product, compliance, and infrastructure teams, mentor engineers, and contribute to the technical roadmap while supporting on-call incident response.

A leading company in the fintech and digital payments sector is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their core payments team. You will design and build scalable microservices processing millions of transactions daily across European markets, working closely with product, compliance, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure, high-performance APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and event‑driven microservices for payment processing
• Optimize database queries and ensure sub‑100ms response times at scale
• Collaborate with DevOps to manage CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments
• Conduct code reviews and mentor mid‑level engineers
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmap

Must‑have Requirements

• 5+ years backend development experience with Java or Python
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis and message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ)
• Experience with microservices architecture and container orchestration
• Understanding of PCI‑DSS compliance and secure coding practices

Nice‑to‑have Requirements
