PALCOMM ITALIA SRL is seeking an experienced Backend Developer to design, build and evolve the infrastructure behind our digital platforms. You will work closely with the CTO on APIs, data, CMS and systems in production, leading backend technical choices for reliability, performance and maintainability.

The role requires autonomous, product‑oriented developers with strong backend production experience across high-traffic systems, including CMS platforms, payments, and AI integrations.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional backend development on high-availability, high-traffic production applications.
• Strong Node.js and modern backend frameworks (NestJS preferred), with TypeScript.
• Solid PostgreSQL: schema design, complex queries, optimization and indexing.
• Hands-on experience designing and building custom CMS or content management systems (models, publishing, versioning, workflows, roles and permissions).
• Experience designing multi-layer caching (Redis, CDN/edge caching, cache invalidation) for high-traffic applications.
• Experience designing and running cloud infrastructure on AWS.

We are hiring an experienced Backend Developer for the IT team, to design, build and evolve the application infrastructure behind the digital platforms.

You work closely with the CTO on APIs, data, CMS and systems already in production.

We want someone with solid experience, able to work autonomously on scalable architectures, security and performance, and to lead backend technical choices.

Gross salary starts at €35k and grows with skills.

We want someone autonomous, precise and product-oriented, with solid experience on production backends and CMS: not only shipping APIs and data, but seeing how they affect reliability, performance and maintainability, and owning the technical choices that grow the platforms.

• Lead backend architecture (APIs, databases, services, CMS and asynchronous processes).

• Design and build custom CMS platforms: content models, publishing, versioning, editorial workflows, users, roles and permissions.

• Design and implement queues, asynchronous processes, notifications and event-driven architectures.
• Hold a high bar for availability, security, backup and disaster recovery in production.
• Optimize performance, queries, multi-layer caching and data access on high-traffic platforms.
• Analyze, debug and resolve critical issues in production.
• Define and implement logging, monitoring, alerting and observability.
• Support collecting, processing and exposing data for analytics and reporting.
• Take part in code review and raise the team’s quality bar and practices.

• Experience with concurrent systems and data consistency: race conditions, locking and idempotency.
• Docker and orchestration or deployment platforms (Amazon ECS, Kubernetes or equivalent).
• Experience integrating payments and subscription management (Stripe preferred).
• Deep knowledge of application security: authentication, authorization, API protection and secrets management.
• Experience with messaging, queues and asynchronous or event-driven architectures.
• Experience building and documenting REST APIs.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring and observability in production.
• Able to work autonomously and take ownership of backend technical choices.
• Experience building proprietary CMS or platforms for editorial, media or high-volume content.
• Experience integrating AI models (LLMs) and AI services through APIs.
• Experience with full-text and semantic search (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, pgvector).
• Experience building video streaming and media distribution systems.
• Experience with microservice architectures.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK or equivalent).
• Experience with vector databases and semantic search (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate or equivalent).
• Experience with OCR and document text extraction.
