Nature and aim of the position

Global Blue, a leading provider of payment card processing services and a subsidiary of the Global Blue Group, a leading provider of Global Tourist Tax Free processing services, is seeking an experienced Applications Support Engineer to provide technical applications management support for core payment applications and solutions.

In this role, you will work closely with the Manager Applications Support, our Infrastructure and internal development teams and our IT operations teams.

To succeed, you should possess experience in managing applications support teams and have an extensive background with providing application support in a fast-paced environment and a proactive approach to managing application support tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing software application support as directed by Manager Applications Support.
  • Perform analyses of software application functionality and suggest improvements.
  • Consult as required with software vendors, software development teams, internal users, and clients to improve application performance.
  • Establish root causes for application errors and escalate serious concerns to management.
  • Keep records of configuration changes and schedule application updates.
  • Document processes and monitor application performance metrics.
  • Providing technical support to clients and internal users in other departments.
  • Assisting with systems integrations.
  • Maintain and update technical documents and procedures.
  • Team IT Infrastructure.
  • Team Platform and Product Development.
  • Team IT Operations Finance.
  • Team External Software Vendors.
Minimum qualifications
  • Minimum 3-year L2 Application Support experience.
  • Working knowledge of payment clearing and settlement processes highly desired.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Operating Systems and SQL (MS or Oracle Database).
  • Working experience in either Splunk, MFT or Control-M is advantageous.
Preferable Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrable experience as an Application Support Engineer.
  • Experience with system monitoring, alert and log-file troubleshooting.
  • Ability to manage code migration, document configuration changes, and monitor application performance.
  • Linux shell scripting experience.
  • Advanced SQL scripting; basic Java or C programming skills.
  • Working experience on monitoring tools like Splunk, Control-M is highly preferred.
  • Competency to provide broader support across internal departments.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in payment processing business is highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload.
  • Maturity in managing expectations: change requests, dealing with unexpected incidents, and supporting technical issues through to resolution.
  • Detail-oriented, with high quality standards and accuracy in work; independent, goal-oriented and self-motivating.
  • Excellent in English (written and spoken); other languages are desirable.
Education and Background Qualifications

The incumbent should be a university graduate and hold qualifications in IT, computing and/or engineering with 3 years’ experience working as an Application Support Engineer. They should have strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities, and a proven track record with providing team leadership and support for critical enterprise application.
