Infineon Technologies AG in Padova, Italy, is looking for a Senior Application Engineer to partner with global customers across the development lifecycle, turning our automotive MCU solutions into concrete designs.

You will work hands-on with customers, diagnose complex issues, and drive proofs-of-concept while collaborating with internal experts across R&D, product, and systems teams. A degree in electronics or related field and strong embedded C skills are essential.

Competenze

• A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Software Engineering, or a similar field of study.
• 3+ years of experience in automotive Tier 1 or OEM environments and understanding of complex embedded systems development, integration, and debugging in customer projects.
• Strong hands-on experience in embedded software development in C, ideally on both application and low-level side.
• Solid expertise in low-level debugging under pressure, including boot, startup, multicore, peripherals, and performance.
• Previous experience with Infineon AURIX microcontrollers or RISC-V is a strong plus.
• Flexibility to travel internationally on short-notice, typically 5-10 trips per year, ranging from one day to up to two weeks during critical project phases.
• Fluency in English

Your role

Key responsibilities in your new role

You will be the trusted technical partner for selected worldwide key customers, supporting them throughout the development lifecycle and helping them succeed with Infineon's latest automotive microcontroller solutions. Working closely with customers and internal experts, you will solve complex technical challenges, drive proof-of-concepts, and share your expertise through technical guidance and training.

• Support customers in early project phases, at decisive project milestones, and during escalations to help them achieve their development goals with Infineon's latest automotive microcontrollers
• Work hands-on with customers remotely and on-site to debug complex technical issues, remove performance bottlenecks, and drive technical proof-of-concepts
• Use your application know-how and knowledge in embedded systems, to prove why our application solution is technically superior in real customer use cases
• Build and maintain a strong internal Infineon network to quickly connect customer questions with the right experts in Application Engineering, R&D, product, and system teams
• Create clarity in ambiguous technical situations by asking the right questions, structuring findings, and driving the next steps together with customers and internal stakeholders
• Share knowledge within the distributed Application Engineering team and contribute to a supportive team culture based on curiosity, ownership, and mutual help
• Train and enable Field Application Engineers and customers in your area of technical expertise

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed

You are a confident communicator who builds strong relationships with customers, Field Application Engineers, and internal technical stakeholders worldwide. With a curious mindset and the confidence to take ownership in situations where not all answers are available upfront, you leverage your internal network, engage the right experts, and drive technical challenges to successful outcomes.

• A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Software Engineering, or a similar field of study

Salary pay information

• Location - Padova, Italy
• Indicative salary range - €38320 - €52690

The stated salary comprises annual base pay and target variable compensation. The starting salary is determined using objective, gender neutral criteria, including relevant experience, qualifications, and role scope; prior compensation is not requested or considered. Employees also benefit from a comprehensive total rewards package, which may include further compensation and benefit elements depending on local regulations and company policies.
