Job summary

Stellar Virtual is seeking a Secondary Teacher, History (6-8) to deliver engaging online history instruction to students in grades 6–12 via our virtual learning platform.   • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and historical understanding.

  • Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
  • Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
  • Experience teaching a range of secondary history courses (e.g., World History, US History, Civics, Geography).
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • Passion for working with students and fostering their understanding and appreciation of history.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Workspace) in a professional setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels with high clarity and low ambiguity.
  • Access to a private, reliable, and secure high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
  • Residency in the state of Tennessee is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in History, History Education, Social Studies
  • Education (with a strong history focus), or a related field.
  • A valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary Social Studies (grades 6-8) or equivalent, with a demonstrated strength or focus in History.
