Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking an experienced SAP S4HANA Project Manager in Italy to lead end-to-end SAP deployment projects. The role involves planning, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in SAP Project Management, multiple full lifecycle SAP implementations, and strong communication with business users and IT. Travel to client sites may be required, and English is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of SAP Project Management experience
• Multiple SAP full lifecycle implementations (S/4HANA on-prem or cloud)
• PM and team leadership experience
• Solid knowledge of SAP Activate methodology and system architecture
• PMP is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to evaluate IT and business challenges broadly
• Strong influencing and communication skills
• Ability to translate between non-technical business users and IT resources
• Strong client service attitude
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Willingness to travel to support local/global clients
• English fluency mandatory

Responsibilities

• Create SAP project planning and scheduling; monitor and report progress and financials to Steering Committee
• Refine and implement project standards, templates, and procedures; train team on tools and templates
• Lead cross-functional teams to define current and future state processes and requirements
• Oversee configuration work to ensure SAP settings meet customer requirements
• Develop functional and technical specifications for developments
• Lead security teams to identify local security requirements and create profiles
• Coordinate testing sessions with the business and manage stakeholder participation
• Plan and schedule cutover and go-live activities; manage deployment activities
• Support post go-live; lead the team to resolve issues

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creation of SAP project planning and schedule. Monitor, control of implementation Team and execution of the Team Plans and schedules, reporting issues and progress including financial status of the project to Steering Committee
• Refine and implement project related standards, templates, and procedures. Ensure training of Team staff on the use of tools, templates, procedures, and standards as part of the SAP Deployment Effort
• Lead cross-functional teams to understand current state, future state landscape, organizational, master data and business processes and requirements
• Lead implementation team related to configuration requirement efforts and work to ensure that SAP settings meet requirements identified with customer
• Lead implementation team related to creation of functional specification for developments and support effectively communication between Functional Team and Development teams to understand
• Functional Specification documentation and to be able to build Technical Specifications for development of technical designs
• Lead security teams to Identify local security requirements and the creation of necessary security profiles
• Work with the business to organize testing session for validation of the solution implemented
• Work with local management to plan and schedule participation of key stakeholders in testing activities.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support during management of the execution of testing activities monitoring progress
• Work with Training team for developing the necessary training materials. Work with Training Factory to understand training content as part of Train the Trainer sessions.
• Work with local management to plan and schedule participation of key stakeholders in end user training activities
• Work with local management, Data Conversion team and Training team to plan and schedule cutover and go-live activities, identifying sequence of tasks, double entry, manual procedures, and load sequences involved
• Manage Deployment-related cutover and go-live activities
• Manage support post go-live, leading team to resolve post go-live issues

What We’re Looking For

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience in SAP Project Management
• Multiple (over 5) SAP implementation full life-cycle experience (S4Hana green field implementation either on-prem either cloud, conversion to S4Hana, S4Hana upgrades, roll-out projects)
• Project Management and Team Leadership experience
• Solid knowledge of SAP Activate implementation methodology, project management and system architecture.
• Certified Project Manager (PMP) will be considered a plus
• Solid analytical / problem solving skills
• Ability to evaluate IT and business challenges from a broad perspective.
• Strong influencing and excellent communication skills
• Ability to translate between non-technical business users and technical IT resources
• Strong client service attitude
