Fraunhofer Italia invites applicants for a Research Engineer or Applied Research Scientist role in Bolzano, joining the Robotics & Intelligent Systems Engineering (RISE) group. You will design and deploy robotic prototypes for real-world settings in production, logistics, healthcare, and more.

The position emphasizes autonomous navigation, ROS 2 expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration with partners from academia and industry, offering growth within a leading research environment.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in mechatronics/robotics engineering or similar.
• 2+ years experience in modelling, simulation and control of robotic systems.
• Strong autonomous navigation experience for mobile robots (planning, localization, perception).
• Strong programming in C++, Python and ROS 2.
• Solid knowledge of Linux, Git and Docker.
• Independent, systematic work with teamwork and commitment.
• Excellent communication in German or Italian (C1/C2) and fluent English.
• EU work permit.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop application-oriented robotic prototypes for real-world deployment across sectors.
• Participate in national and international research projects, including planning, coordination and results presentation.
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams with academia, industry and public sector.
