Job summary

CMCC Foundation—a leading climate research center in Caserta—seeks an Early Career Researcher to advance quantitative climate impact assessment. The role focuses on reviewing impact evidence, modelling hazard–impact relationships, and supporting climate risk analysis and urban adaptation planning.

The successful candidate will work within REMHI Division, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to Horizon Europe projects while developing robust evidence for policy and decision-makers.

Qualifications

• MSc / Laurea Magistrale in a quantitative discipline or related field; PhD candidates encouraged.
• Experience in quantitative analysis of climate extremes on society (health, infrastructure).
• Solid background in statistical modelling and data analysis.
• Experience in literature review and synthesis of heterogeneous data sources.
• Programming in R and/or Python.
• Familiarity with climate data and risk assessment frameworks is an asset.
• Good English (B2) and strong analytical and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a structured review of international, European, and national sources on climate-related impacts.
• Contribute to statistical modelling of extreme events and hazard thresholds, focusing on heat/cold extremes and population impacts.
• Apply advanced statistical methods and quantify uncertainties.
• Produce datasets, figures, maps, and visualisations for diverse audiences.
• Support preparation of technical reports, publications, and knowledge-transfer activities.
