WeRoad, a fast-growing travel startup, is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead a small, senior team and contribute hands-on to data architecture.

You'll own the BigQuery warehouse, dbt transformations, and data pipelines, while partnering with the Data & BI teams and stakeholders across markets. This permanent, full-time role offers a hybrid setup (Milan) with a €60,000–€75,000 salary and remote-friendly culture.

Competenze

• 5+ years in data engineering / analytics with cloud data warehouses.
• Experience as a manager mentoring engineers.
• Strong SQL and dbt, ELT, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience with BI tools and semantic layer.
• Fluent English; remote-first environment.

Mansioni

• Lead and grow our Data Engineering team (1–2 engineers) — owning delivery, quality, and career development.
• Own and evolve WeRoad's data architecture: the BigQuery warehouse, the dbt transformation layer, and the semantic layer for metrics.
• Own the ingestion and orchestration stack — Airflow, dlt, and the move to serverless CDC, plus data quality and observability.
• Own the self-service BI and reporting toolkit (Tableau, Metabase, Lightdash) for stakeholder data access.
• Establish and maintain data governance: quality, lineage, documentation, PII and access controls.
• Drive AI across the team — AI-assisted engineering and data pipelines.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate priorities into a data roadmap.
