Prysmian is seeking a Materials Engineer in Milan on a hybrid basis to support characterization, development, and optimization of cable technologies. You will perform advanced polymer morphological characterization and correlate structure with properties to drive material development and manufacturing improvements.

The role requires a degree in Polymer or Materials Science and proven experience in polymer materials characterization and microscopy, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

We are seeking a Materials Engineer with expertise in materials characterization and product development.

The successful candidate will support the characterization, development, and optimization of cable and accessories technologies.

In this role, you will:

• Perform advanced polymer morphological characterization to identify dispersion and distribution of polymeric and inorganic phases.
• Correlate polymer structure with chemical-physical, rheological, and electrical properties of compounds.
• Conduct comparative analyses to support material development, troubleshooting, and product optimization.
• Analyze, interpret, and model complex multi-technique datasets.
• Generate clear technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for R&D and engineering teams.
• Actively support development of optimized material formulations and manufacturing processes for cable products.

You are the right fit if you have/are:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Polymer Science or Materials Science
• Proven experience in polymer materials characterization and microscopy
• Experience with extrusion or injection molding processes is a nice to have
• Solid understanding of polymer physics, chemistry, and structure-property relationships
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills
• Decision making attitude, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong teamwork skills, results oriented and ambitious mindset

What we offer

• Applicable Collective Agreement : CCNL Gomma, Plastica, Cavi elettrici e affini.
• Job Level/Category: (Impiegato) in line with the applicable collective agreement.
• Gross annual salary no less than: € 38.000,00
• The position is eligible for an individual or collective variable incentive based on the achievement of predetermined performance objectives.
