MDOTM Ltd. in Milan is seeking a Quantitative Data Scientist to join our R&D Team. You will bridge complex quantitative modeling with real-world financial applications, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.

The role requires strong financial intuition, hands-on modeling, and collaboration across research and investment functions to deliver robust, client-aligned strategies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management.
• Solid Python/Java programming skills with experience in financial modeling.
• Experience interpreting, validating, or stress-testing quantitative or machine learning models (backtesting, scenario analysis, model diagnostics).
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Critically evaluate ML model outputs against financial theory and market dynamics, aligning with client objectives.
• Translate research signals into actionable investment strategies and portfolio construction frameworks.
• Collaborate with ML researchers to refine models and contribute to design where needed.
• Design, prototype, and scale quantitative models using Python and Java, ensuring code quality and modularity.
• Develop and maintain test frameworks to validate models and support continuous improvement.
• Translate complex portfolio objectives into rigorous modeling specifications bridging investment intent and algorithmic execution.
• Collaborate across technical workstreams to ensure outputs align with investment objectives and production workflows.
