Job summary

Essentra’s BMP site in Milan seeks a Buyer to manage procurement of direct and indirect materials for manufacturing, collaborating with Production, Planning, Quality and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities include supplier negotiations, PO creation in ERP, on-time deliveries, and supplier development at national and international levels. The role emphasizes data-driven cost control and adherence to procurement guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Procure assigned materials and products per procedures and supplier contracts.

• Develop new suppliers at national and international levels.
• Coordinate with Planning to ensure material availability.
• Manage supplier-related non-conformities with Quality.
• Track supplier KPIs and prepare cost reports.
• Ensure adherence to Group procurement guidelines.

Job description

The Buyer will join the Purchasing Department and will be responsible for managing the procurement of direct and indirect materials required to support BMP Tappi's manufacturing operations. The role will involve close daily collaboration with Production, Planning, Quality, and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability, cost efficiency, and compliance with agreed supplier delivery schedules.

Typical Accountabilities:

• Manage the procurement of assigned products and materials in accordance with company procedures, policies, and contractual agreements, working with existing suppliers
• Maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers for quotations, samples, quality-related matters, logistics information, and other procurement-related activities
• Manage and maintain supplier master data
• Create, issue, and update purchase orders within the company ERP system
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and address any delays or supply issues
• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop new suppliers at both national and international level
• Analyse production requirements in collaboration with the Planning team to ensure timely material availability.
• Manage supplier-related non-conformities in cooperation with the Quality Department
• Monitor supplier performance through defined KPIs and service level indicators
• Prepare reports and analyses on purchasing costs, supplier performance, and commodity market trends
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures, policies, and Group procurement guidelines

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience in a Purchasing/Buyer role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Good understanding of procurement and supply chain processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to plan and manage multiple activities while meeting deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
