Job summary

FAO in Rome is seeking a Programme Officer to coordinate and manage complex programmes within the NFO unit. The role emphasizes monitoring, evaluation, and cross-team collaboration to ensure timely and effective delivery of FAO projects.

The candidate should have a Master’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience, with strong English skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across locations. The position is a fixed-term contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, social science, political science, international development or related field.
• Five years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration or related field.
• Working knowledge (C level) of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of programmes/projects; monitors progress.
• Reviews documents, identifies issues and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties.
• Assists in policy development, including analysis of issues and trends and preparation of impact evaluations.
• Prepares written outputs such as background papers and sections of reports and publications.
• Undertakes outreach activities; conducts trainings and presentations.
• Coordinates budget and funding processes and prepares related documents and reports.
• Maintains tools and dashboards to monitor implementation and reporting obligations.
