ABB Traction Division è una realtà leader nel rail e veicoli elettrificati. ABB cerca un Product Manager per guidare proposte tecniche complete, valutare richieste dei clienti e definire soluzioni ottimali, collaborando con Sales, R&D ed Engineering.

Ruolo internazionale tra Genova e Berlino, con lampi di viaggio e leadership di progetto. Il candidato ideale possiede esperienza in power electronics e sviluppo di sistemi di conversione, conoscenza degli standard ferroviari EN/IEC,

Qualifications

• Laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Elettrica o Elettronica (PhD in Power Electronics è un plus).
• Almeno 3 anni di sviluppo in power electronics, preferibilmente nel settore ferroviario.
• Conoscenza di EN/IEC railway standards e capacità di redigere proposte tecniche.
• Competenza MATLAB e/o Simulink; ottime capacità comunicative in inglese.

Responsibilities

• Lead nello sviluppo di proposte tecniche complete.
• Valutare fattibilità pre-progetto e definire la strategia di soluzione ottimale.
• Rivedere specifiche tecniche del cliente per chiarezza e allineamento.
• Garantire redditività tramite analisi dei costi.
• Analizzare trend di mercato e panorama competitivo.
• Supportare R&D e allineamento strategia prodotto; redigere specifiche.
• Fornire supporto tecnico durante riunioni e negoziazioni con i clienti.
• Costruire solide relazioni tecniche e posizionare ABB come innovatore.
• Gestire requisiti del cliente in mandato tecnico per R&D/Engineering.
• Partecipare a forum di product management per definire requisiti.

Your Role And Responsibilities

Join ABB's Motion Traction team as a Product Manager where your technical expertise is fundamental in evaluating customer quotation requests, selecting the best technical solution, and securing project wins. Operating across our Centers of Excellence in Genoa (Italy) and Berlin (Germany), you will contribute to the evolution of ABB's auxiliary converter portfolio through cutting-edge solutions based on innovative topologies and next-generation semiconductors. You will work alongside global ABB Traction teams while collaborating with Sales, R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure that every solution proposed is technically valid and commercially profitable.

The Work Model For The Role Is

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Lead development of complete technical proposals
• Conduct pre-project assessments to evaluate feasibility and define optimal solution strategy
• Review customer technical specifications for clarity and alignment with ABB's capabilities
• Ensure profitability and commercial viability through rigorous cost analysis
• Analyze auxiliary converter market trends and competitive landscape to identify priorities
• Support R&D and product strategy alignment writing market and product requirement specifications
• Provide technical support during customer meetings and negotiations
• Build strong technical relationships and position ABB as a trusted innovation partner
• Capture and manage customer requirements into a comprehensive technical mandate for R&D and Engineering Teams
• Participate in product management forums to define next-generation solution requirements

Qualifications For The Role

• Advanced knowledge of Power Electronics (DC/DC and DC/AC topologies, modulation techniques, thermal design)
• Proven experience in power conversion system development
• Understanding of railway vehicle architectures and operational requirements
• Knowledge of railway industry standards (EN, IEC)
• Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; PhD in Power Electronics is a plus
• Minimum 3 years in power electronics development, ideally within railway or transport industry
• Experience with technical proposals and customer-facing documentation
• Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Simulink
• Creative mindset with strong initiative and attention to detail
• Collaborative approach with excellent communication skills in English; Italian and German are a plus
• Willingness to travel approximately 30%

Compensation Package

This opportunity is open to candidates in multiple countries, with work location determined based on the selected candidate. Compensation varies by location; we will share salary range, variable compensation, and benefits details with candidates progressing to the first interview.
