Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Avellino, Italy, is seeking a Process Engineer to support the industrialization, change control, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. You will help transfer new products from development to production, define process parameters, and ensure manufacturing readiness.

Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production, prepare technical documentation, and lead improvement initiatives to enhance cost, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and CAPA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and industrialization methods.
  • Good project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

CoFren’ site is a leading manufacturer and supplier of brake pads for freight and passenger trains.

How will you make a difference?

As a Process Engineer you’ll support the development, industrialization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with company standards. This role plays a key part in the implementation of new products and processes, change management activities, and the optimization of operational performance.

What will your typical day look like?
Industrialization:
  • Support the transfer of new products and processes from the development phase to production.
  • Define and validate manufacturing processes, including process parameters and work cycles.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to ensure successful product launch and manufacturing readiness.
  • Prepare and/or support the release of technical documentation, including work instructions, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Participate in process and product validation activities.
Change Control:
  • Manage and coordinate process and product changes through the Engineering Change Control process.
  • Assess the technical, quality, manufacturing, and cost impacts of proposed changes.
  • Ensure proper implementation, documentation, and traceability of all changes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including Quality, Supply Chain, and Production.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and internal procedures.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
  • Analyze process performance using relevant operational and quality metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Implement optimization projects aimed at cost reduction, quality enhancement, and efficiency improvement.
  • Lead root cause analyses and define corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support problem-solving activities related to non-conformities and process deviations.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to Production for troubleshooting activities and process stabilization.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on technical improvements and component industrialization initiatives.
  • Contribute to process standardization and digitalization projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and company policies.
What do we want to know about you?
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, or related discipline).
  • Previous experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrialization, or continuous improvement environments.
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, and CAPA is considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrialization methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement tools (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis).
  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
  • Good project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

  • The current salary for this role ranges from €30,000 to €40,000. The actual salary offered to the candidate may be influenced by various factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base salary range is subject to change and may be reviewed in the future.
