Job summary

ISTITUTO ITALIANO DI TECNOLOGIA seeks a Researcher in Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine to join a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will design and validate biodegradable implantable depots for local delivery of advanced therapeutic combinations, including immunomodulatory agents and engineered cells.

The role focuses on developing cell depots that maintain viability and function within diseased tissues, with applications mainly in oncology and inflammatory diseases.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biomaterials, Bioengineering, or related discipline.
• Experience with local cell depots, cell-laden biomaterials, implantable/injectable delivery systems, or tissue-engineered constructs.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture, immune cell isolation and culture, and engineered cell systems.
• Ability to design and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to properly organize, present, and report research data in fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Work in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group on a shared research goal.
• Contribute to the design, fabrication and preclinical validation of depots for local delivery of therapies.
• Support project development at the intersection of cell engineering, biomaterials, drug delivery and nanotechnology.
• Balance experimental work in oncology and inflammatory disease contexts.
