HHLA PLT Italy S.r.l. is expanding its automated terminal in Trieste and seeks a Safety Engineer to drive machinery safety and CE conformity across the project.

You will perform risk assessments, implement essential safety features, and collaborate with Operations, Asset, IT & Automation, and Procurement to ensure regulator-compliant, efficient terminal operations within a complex logistics environment.

Competenze

• Good English; Italian and German are a plus.
• 3+ years experience in machinery safety and conformity design.
• Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in industrial, automated, logistics, manufacturing, intralogistics, port, or heavy infrastructure environments.
• Understanding of Port Terminals (highly preferred).
• Knowledge of functional safety principles, machinery risk assessment methodologies, and CE conformity processes.
• Experience in multidisciplinary engineering or EPC projects is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Willing to relocate to Trieste on short notice.

• Define a concept for machinery safety in a complex environment prioritizing safety and efficiency.
• Work with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders to establish compliant terminal infrastructure.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits for automated port operations.
• Coordinate safety topics across internal departments (Operations, Asset, Equipment, IT & Automation, Procurement).
• Mitigate safety risks and address potential challenges within the area of expertise.
