Job summary

Air Apps is seeking a Backend QA Engineer to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of our backend systems. This onsite Lisbon role involves testing APIs, databases, and services while collaborating with engineers to uphold quality across the infrastructure.

The candidate should have 2–3 years of experience with backend tech like Node.js and TypeScript, and be adept at test design, automation, API validation, and infrastructure review. Relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2–3 years of experience in backend testing or software development in test roles.
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript in backend environments.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and validating queries and data integrity.
• Experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
• Understanding of backend testing practices including API, database, and integration testing.
• Familiarity with test management tools such as TestRail or similar platforms is beneficial.
• Comfort reviewing pull requests and backend architecture changes to ensure quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute tests for backend systems, including APIs, databases, and service integrations.
• Validate API functionality and performance using Postman, Swagger, or similar platforms.
• Test and verify database operations and data integrity in PostgreSQL or similar databases.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to review pull requests and ensure code quality and test coverage.
• Support development and maintenance of automated tests for backend services.
• Participate in reviewing backend infrastructure for reliability or performance issues.
• Document and track defects, test cases, and results using test management tools.
