Kineton in Torino, Italy, is seeking a motivated MBD Engineer to design, develop and validate control software for automotive systems, applying model-based methodologies across the full software lifecycle.

You will use MATLAB/Simulink with Stateflow, work on MIL/SIL and unit tests, automate builds with Embedded Coder, and collaborate with hardware teams. Fluent English required; salary range €34,000–€40,000 depending on experience.

We are looking for a motivated MBD Engineer to join our Software Design team. You will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of control software for complex automotive systems and advanced mobility projects.

The role focuses on applying model-based methodologies to ensure the reliability and performance of embedded systems, facilitating the integration of model-centric workflows into the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Model-Based Development: Design and develop application logic and control algorithms using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow following the V-cycle process.
• Software Generation & Build: Manage automatic code generation (C/C++) via Embedded Coder, including the development of scripts and toolchain-based build processes.
• Verification & Validation: Execute comprehensive testing activities, including Unit testing, Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) to ensure logic correctness.
• Standardization & Automation: Develop and rollout standardized software tools and processes (using Python or MATLAB scripting) to automate development and continuous integration.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Support board bring-up and debugging activities in collaboration with hardware and electronic engineering teams.
• Requirements Analysis: Analyze system requirements and translate them into executable models and robust test cases.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Controls, Electrical, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience in model-based design
• Toolchain Proficiency: Expert knowledge of the MathWorks suite (Simulink, Stateflow, Embedded Coder, Simulink Data Dictionary).
• E-Mobility/Powertrain: Proven track record in control systems in the e-mobility field, covering Torque structure, powerflow arbitration and HV components management
• Languages: Fluent English.

Preferred Skills (Nice To Have)

• Embedded Software: — C proficiency
• Quality & Compliance: Knowledge of ASPICE, and coding standards(MISRA C).
• Scripting: Experience with Python or MATLAB for automation and scripting.
• AUTOSAR: Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture and configuring Simulink models for AUTOSAR compliance.
• Industry Standards: Solid understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety standards.
• Methodology: Experience working within the automotive V-cycle.

Salary: Between €34,000 and €40,000, depending on experience.
