Job summary

Jobgether SRL in Italy is seeking a Mobile Engineer to build a cross-platform React Native app running on iOS and Android. You will work on messaging, voice/video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup within a peer-to-peer architecture.

This fully remote role invites you to optimize startup times, battery use, and network efficiency while collaborating with product and design teams to deliver high-quality features end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience with React Native and mobile app development.
• Strong experience with Redux for state management and Redux-Saga for async flows.
• High proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and modern development practices.
• Experience with WebSockets and RESTful APIs integration.
• Familiarity with mobile app performance optimization, debugging, and testing.
• Experience collaborating with distributed or fully remote engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Build, refine, and maintain features for messaging, calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup.
• Implement user interfaces and connect them to peer-to-peer core APIs on-device.
• Integrate native mobile capabilities: push notifications, camera, biometrics, background tasks.
• Profile and optimize performance on real devices: startup time, long chats, media processing, battery, network.
• Write and maintain unit and end-to-end tests.
• Support stable releases through CI, crash reporting, and debugging.
• Collaborate with product, design, and peer-to-peer teams to deliver features.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality.

Join a fully remote engineering team building innovative peer-to-peer mobile technology for secure, decentralized communication. In this role, you will develop and enhance a cross-platform application for iOS and Android using React Native and Expo. You will work on features spanning messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup. Combining modern mobile development with an on-device peer-to-peer architecture, you will help deliver a seamless, reliable, and privacy-focused user experience. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and core technology teams to build high-quality features from concept to release. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced mobile engineer passionate about performance optimization, decentralized technologies, and shaping the future of digital communication.

Accountabilities:

• Build, refine, and maintain features for messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup.

• Implement user interfaces and connect them to the peer-to-peer core APIs running directly on the device.

• Integrate native mobile capabilities, including push notifications, camera access, biometric authentication, and background tasks.

• Profile and optimize performance on real devices, focusing on application startup time, extended chat sessions, media processing, battery consumption, and network usage.

• Write and maintain unit and end-to-end tests to ensure application reliability and prevent regressions.

• Support stable releases through continuous integration workflows, crash reporting, and systematic debugging.

• Collaborate with product, design, and peer-to-peer engineering teams to deliver new features and improve the overall user experience.

• Participate in code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and maintain a high standard of code quality.

Requirements:

Candidates should bring substantial experience in React Native development, strong JavaScript expertise, and a solid understanding of mobile application architecture and state management. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a remote environment, optimizing existing applications, and collaborating across technical disciplines.

• Significant professional experience with React Native and mobile application development.

• Strong experience with Redux for state management and Redux-Saga for handling asynchronous workflows.

• High proficiency in JavaScript, including ES6+ features and modern development practices.

• Experience integrating and working with WebSockets and RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with mobile application performance optimization, debugging, and testing.

• Experience collaborating with distributed or fully remote engineering teams.

• An interest in modernizing, improving, and optimizing mobile or web applications.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Familiarity with native development languages such as Swift and Kotlin is an advantage.

• Experience with native development and build tools, including Xcode and Android Studio, is a plus.

• Experience building applications with peer-to-peer frameworks or working with decentralized technologies is a bonus.
