Job summary

Viking EMEA is seeking a Mechatronic / Automation Engineer in its R&D team based in Lombardy, Italy. You will design and validate electromechanical equipment for foam extinguishing systems, integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components.

The role requires 3+ years in mechatronics, CAD-based development, PLC programming, and strong collaboration across disciplines. Italian and English fluency are essential; occasional travel is possible.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics or Automation.
3+ years in mechatronic design in an R&D environment with electrical/electronic development and automation.
Experience with motor control, sensors and power electronics; PLC/embedded integration.
Fluent in Italian and English; collaborative, structured working style.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, prototype, and validate electromechanical equipment and systems for fire protection systems.
Integrate electrical and mechanical subsystems, ensuring reliable interaction between power and motion control.
Create and maintain 3D CAD models, electrical schematics, software, and documentation for manufacturing and certification.
Propose mechanical solutions and define electrical interfaces and control logic for foam proportioning and robotics systems.
Support prototype assembly, testing, validation, and implement design improvements.
Ensure compliance with fire protection regulations and internal quality requirements.
