WeRoad Ltd is seeking a Staff/Lead Data Engineer to lead a small senior team and own the evolution of the data platform, including BigQuery, dbt, and semantic layers. You will work with Airflow, serverless ingestion, and BI tooling to deliver trusted, self-service insights across multiple markets.

The role is remote-friendly with hybrid options in Milan and a fast-paced, multi-market environment. Fluent English and strong communication are essential as you shape data governance and drive

Competenze

• 5+ years in data engineering / analytics engineering in fast-growing product companies.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers in a small senior team.
• Strong SQL, dbt, ELT/ingestion (dlt or similar), and Airflow experience.
• Experience with BI dashboards and building a semantic/metrics layer.
• Data governance: quality, lineage, documentation, PII and access management.
• Experience using AI in data pipelines and driving adoption.
• Excellent communication and fluent English in a remote-first environment.

Mansioni

• Lead the Data Engineering team (1–2 engineers) with delivery, quality, and career development.
• Own and evolve the data architecture: BigQuery warehouse, dbt layer, and semantic layer.
• Own ingestion and orchestration stack—Airflow, dlt, serverless CDC; ensure reliability and observability.
• Own self-service BI tooling (Tableau, Metabase, Lightdash) for stakeholder data access.
• Establish data governance: quality, lineage, documentation, PII and access controls.
• Drive AI across the team in data pipelines and production adoption.
• Translate company priorities into a data roadmap with stakeholders.
