MERMEC in Italy is seeking a Junior Hardware Engineer to own the hardware design of digital and analog boards from concept to production, reporting to the Team Leader.

You will define technical specifications, design schematics and layouts, test hardware, and collaborate across mechanical, firmware and software teams to deliver robust electronics for EMS projects.

Competenze

• Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, …) or equivalent experience.
• Design electronics schematics and PCB layout.
• Experience with PCB design tools (Altium preferred).
• Experience with laboratory instruments and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of design for manufacturing and testability techniques.
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of design for EMC compliance techniques.
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of HDL for FPGA design, VHDL (preferred) or Verilog.
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of FPGA design suites (ISE, Vivado, Quartus).
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Availability for sporadic national and international travels.

Descrizione del lavoro

The Junior Hardware Engineer, reporting to the Team Leader, will take care of the complete hardware design of digital and analog electronic boards, from the concept (requirement specification, component selection), through the design and validation (schematics, layout, prototyping, characterization), up to the mass production (production documentation, testing during manufacturing)

Responsibilities

• Definition of Technical specifications and detailed hardware requirements for electronic boards;
• Design and simulation of schematics, selection of electronic components;
• Design and development of appropriate test hardware and procedures to prove the correct operation of hardware;
• Maintenance, debug and redesign of existing projects;
• Components library management;
• Customer interface on hardware issues (internal customer, service department);
• Simple digital design in VHDL code (FPGA design) and software design in C/C++ code (software for SoC/microprocessor design);
• Documentation of design specifications and implementation details;
• Collaboration with other team members (including optical, hardware, firmware and software engineers) to define higher-level system designs, interfaces and protocols, etc.;
• Interaction with EMS during prototyping and production phase

Technical Skills, Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, …) or equivalent experience
• Design electronics schematics and PCB layout
• Experience with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)
• Experience with laboratory instruments and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of design for manufacturing and testability techniques
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of design for EMC compliance techniques
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of Hardware Description Language for FPGA design, VHDL (preferable) or Verilog
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of Xilinx/AMD and Altera/Intel FPGA design suites (ISE, Vivado, Quartus)
• (Nice to have) knowledge of C/C++ for embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Availability for sporadic national and international travels

Gross Annual Salary (RAL)

27.000€ - 33.000€, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
