MERMEC is seeking a Hardware Engineer to own the complete hardware design of digital and analog electronic boards for complex industrial and railway diagnostic applications across all project stages. Responsibilities cover concept to mass production, with integration and after-sales support.

The role requires 5+ years in electronics design, proficiency with Altium and FPGA tools, and good English. Occasional national/international travel is expected. Gross annual salary ranges 35,000€ to 40,000€.

Competenze

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in designing electronics schematics, PCB layout or FPGA/MCU programming.
  • Experience with PCBA design tools (Altium preferred).
  • Experience with FPGA design suites and VHDL.
  • Knowledge of high speed, SI and PI issues and EMC.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

Descrizione del lavoro

The Hardware Engineer, reporting to the Team Leader, will take care of the complete hardware design of digital and analog electronic boards for complex industrial and railway diagnostic applications through all projects stages: from concept (requirement specification, component selection), through design and validation (schematics, layout, prototyping, characterization), mass production (production documentation, testing during manufacturing) up to system integration, testing and after sales support.

Responsibilities
  • Definition of technical specifications and detailed hardware requirements for electronic boards;
  • Design and simulation of schematics, selection of electronic components;
  • Design and development of appropriate test hardware and procedures to prove the correct operation of hardware;
  • Maintenance, debug and redesign of existing projects;
  • Components library management;
  • Customer interface on hardware issues (internal customer, service department);
  • Simple digital design in VHDL code (FPGA design) and software design in C/C++ code (software for SoC/microprocessor design);
  • Documentation of design specifications and implementation details;
  • Collaboration with other team members (including optical, hardware, firmware and software engineers) to define higher-level system designs, interfaces and protocols, etc.;
  • Interaction with EMS during prototyping and production phase;
Technical Skills, Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, …) or equivalent experience;
  • 5+ years of professional experience in designing electronics schematics, PCB layout and/or FPGA/microcontrollers programming;
  • Experience with PCBA design tools (Altium preferred);
  • Experience with FPGA design suites (ISE, Vivado, Quartus, etc.) and VHDL design;
  • Experience with laboratory instruments and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.);
  • Knowledge of version control tools;
  • Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers;
  • Knowledge of high speed, SI and PI issues and related design practice;
  • Knowledge of EMC issues and related design practice;
  • (Nice to have) Knowledge of design for manufacturing and testability techniques;
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English;
  • Availability for sporadic national and international travels;

Gross Annual Salary (RAL): 35.000€ - 40.000€, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
