Job summary

American International Group, Inc. in Milano seeks an experienced D&O Manager to lead underwriting teams, execute profitability plans, and drive new business opportunities for Financial Lines in Italy.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. You will report to the Underwriting function and work primarily in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience leading underwriting teams with a focus on profitability.
• Strong written and spoken English; Italian language skills advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage underwriters directly, monitoring progress on goals and objectives.
• Achieve production goals including profitability; manage monthly production.
• Drive facility and program new business opportunities.
• Track monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics (GPW, NPW, rate, new business, lost business).
• Implement FL underwriting strategy for Italy as provided by PCM.
• Develop Financial Lines MLC underwriting strategy for profitable growth.
• Ensure underwriters act within set decision making standards and authority.
• Maintain a pipeline of products for development or updating.
• Implement regional and global products promptly.
• Ensure timely reporting of estimate performance.
• Ensure regulatory and risk management responsibilities are met.
• Retain talent through development, mentoring, and career guidance.
• Develop a clear sales and marketing plan for growth lines.
• Review underwriting processes for operational efficiencies.
• Build relationships with key brokers; grow alternative sources of business.
• Advocate underwriting excellence with tools like Raters and AQI.
