Job summary

The Rome City School District in Rome, NY is seeking an Interim Assistant Principal for 11th grade to begin November 30, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Qualifications

• Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) certification, or eligibility.
• Experience in teaching and educational leadership preferred.
• Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, school operations, and student discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assists in daily school administration and operation.
• Serves as Acting Principal during the Principal's absence.
• Ensures operations align with district policies and labor agreements.
• Participates in long-range planning, school improvement, and program evaluation.
• Assists in preparing reports and maintaining records.
• Supports implementation of district curriculum and instructional programs.
• Assists in analyzing student achievement data to inform practice.
• Supports teachers in instructional practices and departmental initiatives.
• Facilitates professional development opportunities for staff.
• Maintains knowledge of best practices and curriculum innovations.
• Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting staff.
• Supports orientation and mentoring of new teachers.
• Provides guidance on instruction, classroom management, and family engagement.
• Assists in supervision and evaluation of instructional and ancillary staff.
• Supports school office operations management.
• Develops programs to support student learning and well-being.
• Helps maintain a safe, orderly school environment.
• Assists with student discipline and behavioral interventions.
• Supports supervision during arrival, dismissal, and activities.
• Assists with parent conferences and communication of progress.
• Participates in Shared Decision Making and committees.
• Gathers and analyzes data to support school improvement.
• Collaborates with staff to plan and implement school goals.
• Communicates school initiatives to staff and families.
