A leading beauty company is seeking a Packaging Optimization & Line Efficiency Intern for a 6-month internship in Settimo Torinese, Italy. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a STEM field and will be responsible for coordinating risk analyses for new product launches, optimizing packaging design, and managing technical validations. Proficiency in MS Office and excellent communication skills in Italian and English are required. This role offers valuable experience in a dynamic and international environment with various corporate benefits.

Who We Are

In Settimo Torinese, Italy, is active one of the main production centers of L’Oréal Group in the world. The plant's products are distributed in 30 countries. The production site is a full expression of the industrial, social and environmental values of the Group: quality, the result of innovation and control in production, safety of the working environments, minimal impact on the environment. Between 2005 e il 2020 in terms of enviromental management, outstanding results have been reached. The site is in fact carbon neutral since 2015 and since 2018 is also a waterloop factory, that is a production site which consumes water solely as a raw material for products and not for other uses.

We Are Looking For

The Packaging Optimization & Line Efficiency Intern is the technical link between our Paris Packaging HQ and the local Production Units. Joining our team in Settimo Torinese, you will ensure the success of new product launches by ensuring every new design is "Good First Time" (BPC) and runs perfectly on our automated lines. We are looking for a pragmatic and proactive STEM student or recent graduate, capable of managing technical risk analyses, coordinating industrial trials, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams and international suppliers to optimize plant performance and logistics efficiency.

Mission & Main Responsibilities
  • Risk Analysis & Feasibility: Collaborate with Production Units to conduct detailed risk analyses for new launches, verifying line feasibility and drafting technical reports for industrial production.
  • Industrial Feasibility (FI) Trials: Coordinate and support the testing of packaging samples on automated lines to validate performance before official launches.
  • Reporting & Technical Validation: Manage communication post‑testing, officially validating successful trials for packaging homologation or identifying technical issues for risk analysis updates.
  • Box & Palletizing Design: Participate in the design of packaging boxes as a technical liaison with suppliers and optimize pallet configurations using dedicated software (e.g., CAPE PACK).
  • Transport & Quality Testing: Participate in transport and Big Bag tests to validate component integrity, monitoring industrial standards for packaging components over time.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring machinability issues related to packaging design and define action plans to reduce waste and improve line performance.
  • Audit Support: Assist in internal quality audits to ensure the maintenance of L’Oréal Group’s high‑quality standards.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in an Engineering field (Management, Materials, or similar STEM fields) is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for technical analysis and presentation preparation.
  • Familiarity with data analysis or packaging software is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Italian language and fluent in English; basic knowledge of French is a plus.
