Job summary

Jacobs, a global technology and engineering leader, is seeking an HVAC & Utilities Engineer in Italy to support our Data Center sector. You will design HVAC and utilities systems, perform calculations, prepare construction packages, and coordinate with multiple disciplines. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality engineering solutions while growing your career in a collaborative, hybrid environment. The position requires fluency in English and Italian and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering (or industrial engineering).
• 2–4 years of experience in HVAC & Utilities design.
• Experience in DC and industrial facilities is a plus.
• Experience in local and international projects is a plus.
• Knowledge of national and international codes (ASHRAE, ISO, GMP, NFPA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Layout and design HVAC & Utilities systems for data centers and industrial facilities.
• Develop design criteria for HVAC & Utilities systems, including airflow, temperature and humidity control.
• Produce conceptual and final design documents, including P&IDs, airflow diagrams, ducting and piping layouts.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project quality and timely delivery.
• Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities as part of project execution.

Your impact

Within our Mechanical Department in Italy, we are looking for an HVAC & Utilities Engineer to support our growing Data Center sector.

Join us and contribute to the delivery of innovative HVAC and utilities design solutions for leading Data Center clients. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of engineers and designers, conducting field investigations, liaising with clients and vendors, sizing and selecting equipment, and preparing construction design packages.

You will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery and technical quality of challenging engineering assignments while developing a solid understanding of client expectations, project scope, budget, and schedule. Working within a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative environment, you will help establish design criteria, develop optimized engineering solutions, perform calculations, and produce technical drawings.

Highlights of your contributions will include

• Layout and design of HVAC & Utilities systems for various types of clients, data centers and industrial facilities.
• Development of the design criteria for the HVAC & Utilities systems. The HVAC systems would include general comfort heating and cooling, those with accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements. The Utilities systems include Utilities calculations for both generation and distribution systems.
• Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, which involve calculations related to sizing and selecting these systems, the development of Airflow Diagrams (AF&IDs) and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangements.
• Development of final design documents including specification, sequences of operation, ducting and piping layouts, and final construction documents associated with these systems. Related systems include Chilled, Hot, Glycolic, Potable Water, Steam, Compressed Air, Drainage and Sewage system etc.
• Coordination with other disciplines.

Here's what you'll need

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering.
• Technical background with a minimum 2-4 years of experience in HVAC & Utilties designs
• DC and Industrial Facilities project experience are a plus.
• Experience in both local and international projects are a plus.
• Knowledge in national and international standard technical codes (ASHRAE, Energy and Sustainability codes, ISO standards related to the technical sector, GMP, NFPA, FMG),
• Design software experience for Heating and Cooling loads calculation and Energy Modelling (IES, HAP Carrier, Trane Trace 700), CFD Analysis are a plus.
• Revit MEP basic knowledge and specialized collaborative platforms (BIM360, ACC, Naviswork, Revizto) are a plus.
• Basic Knowledge on BMS & Control Systems for the and Testing and Commissioning experience is a plus.
• Fluency in English and Italian
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.

Posted Salary Range Minimum

43,700.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

54,600.00

The offer range for this position is €43,700.00 to €54,600.00 gross per year (or hourly equivalent if hired into hourly role). The final salary within this range will be determined based on objective, gender neutral and job-related criteria, such as relevant professional experience, skills, qualifications, the scope of responsibilities and the contracted working hours/work schedule.
