Job summary

Axelera AI is seeking a motivated recent graduate to join the hardware team in Florence as a 6‑month Hardware Lab Engineer Intern. You will assist with board bring‑up, electrical characterization and test automation for our AIPU boards, while helping run and maintain the hardware lab with a hands‑on approach.

You will gain R&D experience in AI hardware, work with electronics and software teams, and take ownership of tasks from day one in a fast‑growing international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly organized and proactive with ownership mindset.
• Precise and methodical with attention to detail and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Electrical characterization: plan and perform voltage, current, power, signal integrity and timing measurements on AIPU boards with lab instruments.
• Test bench development: define, assemble and configure test benches and related setup docs.
• Test automation: write Python scripts to control lab instruments and automate data collection flows.
• Data analysis and reporting: analyze performance data and present findings in technical reports.
• Ancillary board design: design small boards from requirements through schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer / KiCad).
• Lab and inventory management: run the hardware lab day-to-day and maintain equipment and calibration schedules.
