Job summary

PRISMA is seeking an experienced hardware design engineer for automotive lighting systems in Italy. You will design electronic hardware architectures, LED drivers, PCBAs, and power management solutions, while creating schematics, selecting automotive components, and maintaining documentation.

You will perform simulations, EMC-aware designs, and collaborate across mechanical, optical, and software teams to enable robust, automotive-grade hardware solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Experience in hardware design within automotive or industrial electronics.
• Strong knowledge of power electronics, LED driver circuits, and mixed-signal design.
• Experience with circuit simulation tools (PSpice, LTSpice, Matlab).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware architectures for automotive lighting systems.
• Create electrical schematics and prepare hardware documentation including eBOMs.
• Perform circuit simulation, worst-case analysis, and tolerance analysis.
• Define PCB placement, routing, and stack-up requirements and support Altium Designer workflows.
• Review PCB layouts for electrical robustness, EMC, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with mechanical, optical, and software teams for system integration.
• Support hardware testing, validation, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain hardware documentation according to automotive standards.

Job description

ROLE

• Design and develop electronic hardware architectures for automotive lighting systems
• Develop LED driver circuits, LED PCBAs, headlamp control modules, and power management solutions (SMPS, DC/DC converters, linear regulators)
• Create electrical schematics, select automotive-grade components, and prepare hardware documentation including eBOMs
• Perform circuit simulation, worst-case analysis, and tolerance analysis
• Define PCB placement, routing, and stack-up requirements and support PCB layout activities using Altium -Designer
• Review PCB layouts regarding electrical robustness, EMC compliance, thermal performance, and manufacturability
• Support hardware testing, validation, debugging, and root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with mechanical, optical, and software engineering teams for system integration
• Support automotive communication interfaces such as CAN and LIN
• Contribute to DFMEA, test planning, design rules, and quality documentation
• Maintain hardware documentation according to automotive and internal standards

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
• Experience in hardware design within automotive or industrial electronics
• Strong knowledge of power electronics, LED driver circuits, and mixed-signal design
• Experience with circuit simulation tools (PSpice, LTSpice, Matlab, or equivalent)
• Proficiency in Altium Designer and PCB design principles
• Understanding of EMC requirements and automotive communication systems
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
• Hands-on mindset and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
• Good communication skills in Italian and English
