Job summary

IQVIA in Rome, Italy, seeks a Global Safety Physician to lead medical safety oversight across clinical development and post-marketing programs. You will review safety data, oversee risk management plans, safety reporting, and regulatory submissions while guiding cross-functional teams.

You will mentor physicians and safety professionals, manage projects, support business development, and present safety findings to clients.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of global pharmacovigilance, clinical research, safety reporting, GCP, and regulatory requirements.
• In-depth understanding of clinical development, pharmaceutical research, and medical safety/monitoring activities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex environment.
• Strong consulting, communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence clients and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including people management, project oversight, financial accountability, and strategic decision-making.
• Medical degree (MD) from an accredited institution, with substantial clinical practice experience and/or pharmaceutical physician experience.
• Significant experience in medical safety, pharmacovigilance, or medical monitoring within pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, or healthcare industry.
• Current medical licensure (or equivalent professional registration) in the country of practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical review of safety data and oversee pharmacovigilance activities across programs.
• Provide medical oversight for safety documentation, regulatory submissions, and risk management plans.
• Lead governance activities and ensure timely, compliant deliverables across safety projects.
• Represent Medical Safety function to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Lead, develop and resource safety teams with performance management and mentoring.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, budgeting, and client presentations.
