Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Manufacturing Sciences Scientist I to support manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing, and implementing production processes for diagnostics, research, and therapeutic applications.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration with Analytical Development, Quality Assurance and Clinical Operations to ensure quality and compliance, while contributing to process improvements and patient care.

Competenze

  • Bachelor's degree required; no prior GMP environment experience required.
  • Fields of study: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or related scientific field.
  • Proficiency in standard laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, GDP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical writing for SOPs, batch records and investigation reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
  • Ability to work varied schedules including potential overtime.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds in lab/manufacturing environments.
  • English language proficiency required; additional languages beneficial.

Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Manufacturing Sciences Scientist I, where you'll contribute to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. In this role, you'll support manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing and implementing production processes while ensuring compliance with quality standards. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to manufacture critical products for diagnostics, research, and therapeutic applications. Responsibilities / Key Duties

  • Formulation Design: Develop stable liquid, lyophilized, and parenteral formulations for both small molecules and biologics.
  • Pre-Formulation Screening: Conduct physicochemical characterization, including pH-solubility profiles, pKa, excipient compatibility, and forced degradation studies.
  • Process Optimization: Design and execute robust freeze-drying (lyophilization) cycles.
  • Scale-Up & Tech Transfer: Lead the transfer of formulation processes from bench-top lab scale to pilot scale and commercial GMP manufacturing facilities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaboration with Analytical Development, Quality Assurance, and Clinical Operations teams to ensure project timelines are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, no prior experience required in a GMP environment
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related scientific field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in standard laboratory techniques and equipment operation
  • Working knowledge of GMP, GDP, and other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Strong technical writing skills for SOPs, batch records, and investigation reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and laboratory information systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams
