Stellantis Italy is seeking a Production Unit Manager to lead Finishing Unit operations, including Finishing, Supercubing and Heat Treatment, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery. The role manages production teams, engineers and shift supervisors across multiple lines, driving continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and SIS methodologies to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Fluent Italian and English at B2 level are expected along with an Engineering degree and proven

  • Engineering degree required; Mechanical Engineering is a plus.

Position Summary

The Production Unit Manager is responsible for leading all production and technical activities within the Finishing Unit, including Finishing Operations, Supercubing and Heat Treatment Processes.

The role is accountable for achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People objectives through the effective management of production teams, shift supervisors and process engineering resources.

The position provides leadership to a multi-disciplinary organization, ensuring operational excellence, process stability, workforce development and continuous improvement in line with business objectives and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all Production Unit activities, including Finishing, Supercubing and Heat Treatment operations, ensuring achievement of production, quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Manage and develop a team of Production Supervisors, Team Leaders and Process Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Corporate standards, promoting a zero-accident culture and supporting internal and external audits.
  • Drive operational performance through the monitoring and analysis of KPIs, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence.
  • Ensure product conformity to customer specifications and internal quality standards by promoting process discipline, standardized work and robust problem-solving methodologies.
  • Lead the management of process deviations, quality concerns, customer issues and production disruptions, ensuring timely containment and permanent corrective actions.
  • Coordinate all technical activities within the Unit, providing direction and priorities to Process and Technical Specialists to improve process capability, efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure the reliability and technical performance of equipment, collaborating closely with Maintenance teams to support Autonomous Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance and equipment improvement initiatives.
  • Support the introduction of new products, process changes, industrialization projects and capital investments, ensuring proper validation, training and implementation.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) methodologies, promoting kaizen activities, waste reduction, productivity improvements and best practice deployment.
  • Develop workforce capabilities through coaching, training, succession planning and talent development initiatives.
  • Manage workforce planning and resource allocation to ensure operational flexibility and efficient utilization of manpower across all shifts.
  • Promote strong cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain and Human Resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all customer, regulatory and certification requirements relevant to automotive manufacturing and aluminum foundry operations.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in similar role.
  • Degree in Engineering; a degree in Mechanical Engineering will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor in a complex industrial environment with machining operations.
  • Proven experience in people management and team leadership.
  • Experience in managing production activities and achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People objectives.
  • Ability to monitor and improve operational KPIs through corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in process deviation management, problem solving and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement tools.
  • Native Italian and English proficiency at B2 level or above.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of foundry processes, particularly finishing, supercubing and heat treatment processes, will be considered a plus.

Offer
  • Salary range: from 45.000 € to 55.000 €, that will be defined depending on the level of adherence of the candidate to the job requirements
  • Collective Agreement: In accordance with the provisions of the Specific Collective Labour Agreement (CCSL - CNEL code: CO10), and in particular with regard to the classification within the third professional area.
