Job summary

Dartmouth College seeks a Farm Hand to assist the Farm Manager in the operations and maintenance of the Morton Farm, caring for horses and maintaining farm facilities. Responsibilities

• Clean the horses’ stalls & paddocks.
• Fill water buckets in stalls & fields.
• Clean feed & water buckets.
• Sweep barn floors.
• Clean other areas of the Morton Farm as instructed.
• Operate farm equipment (tractors & RTVs) when asked.
• Assist in projects to maintain the farm, facility, and well-being of the horses.
• Provide other care to the horses as instructed.

Position Purpose

To assist the Farm Manager in the operations and maintenance of the Morton Farm. The Farm Hand will accomplish this through the care of horses and the maintenance of Morton Farm facilities.

Required Qualifications

• Previous horse or farm experience
• A willingness to learn
• Positive, team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work independently

• Must have valid US driver’s license

Working Conditions

• Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold.
• Must be able to list/pull/push up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, reach overhead and below
• Ability to work effectively in an environment with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, and animal hair/feather

Depending on the level of experience, individuals may be asked to:

• Providing other care to the horses as instructed
