Job summary

HPE Group S.p.a in Modena, Italy is seeking an Engine Test Engineer to manage setup, execution and documentation of simulation tests in compliance with specs and schedules. You will work with internal and external stakeholders and report to the Test Cell Team Leader.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 2+ years in an engine test cell, and fluent Italian with strong English skills.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
• At least two years of experience managing and conducting testing activities in an engine test cell.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engine components, performance, and reliability parameters.
• Familiarity with measurement systems for thermo-fluid dynamic and mechanical characterization of engines.
• Italian (C1) and English (B2/C1) proficiency.
• Experience with AVL PUMA and AVL Concerto is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and set up test plans, expectations, and results for engine testing.
• Coordinate test cell operators during engine setup and test execution.

Position

The ideal candidate will join the Engine Testing team and, working in coordination with internal and external stakeholders, will manage and oversee the setup, execution, and documentation of simulation tests in compliance with technical specifications and schedules. They will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during product development phases and report to the Test Cell Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, in collaboration with stakeholders, the setup requirements, test plan, and expected results for internal combustion engine testing.
• Plan and conduct testing activities, coordinating test cell operators during engine setup (according to specifications) and test execution.
• Monitor the component under test and the behavior of test cell support systems—regarding performance and reliability parameters—using telemetry software.
• Report anomalies concerning the component or test cell systems in collaboration with stakeholders, proposing a preliminary analysis and any necessary modifications to the test unit or measurement instrumentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures during testing activities.
• Draft a report on the tests performed after verifying data consistency and comparing results against expectations.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
• At least two years of experience managing and conducting testing activities in an engine test cell.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engine components, as well as performance and reliability parameters.
• Knowledge of measurement systems used for the thermo-fluid dynamic and mechanical characterization of internal combustion engines.
• Familiarity with AVL PUMA automation systems, AVL Concerto data analysis software is a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken Italian (C1 level).
• Good written and spoken English (B2/C1 level).
