Job summary

LUZA Group in Turin, Italy, seeks a Cost Engineer – Exterior Lighting to manage cost analysis, should-cost models, and optimization across vehicle development from concept to SOP. The role focuses on developing cost targets and supporting technical-commercial supplier negotiations.

The ideal candidate has 1–5 years in automotive cost engineering, with lighting systems experience, knowledge of aPriori/Teamcenter/Fa​cton, and fluent English and Italian.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, Electronic or Industrial Management Engineering.
• 1–5 years of experience in Cost Engineering, Product Costing or Technical Purchasing within the automotive industry.
• At least 1 year of experience in automotive lighting systems or plastic/electromechanical commodities, with OEM or Tier-1 supplier.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to lighting systems (injection molding, tooling, vacuum metallization, coating, SMT/PCB).
• Proven experience in developing should-cost models and analysing supplier open-book cost breakdowns.
• Hands-on costing tools: aPriori, Siemens Teamcenter PCM/TcPCM, Facton or equivalents; Excel and SAP.
• Fluent in English and Italian.

Responsibilities

• Develop should-cost models and cost breakdowns for exterior lighting systems (housings, lenses, LEDs, drivers, tooling, assembly).
• Define cost targets for components across program stages in alignment with Engineering, PM, and Finance.
• Analyse supplier quotations (RFQs) and open-book cost breakdowns to identify gaps with targets.
• Prepare technical and economic arguments to support supplier negotiations with Purchasing.
• Participate in supplier negotiations and cost-related meetings as the cost expert for the commodity.
• Drive Design-to-Cost, VA/VE initiatives and quantify savings with internal teams and suppliers.
