Skyray is seeking an Expert Engineer in Milan to lead electrical studies and detailed design for large-scale PV and BESS projects. You will collaborate with European teams, support grid connection topics, and contribute to project development in Italy.

The role requires an Electrical Engineering degree, an Italian Engineer License, and 5+ years in renewable energy engineering, with fluency in Italian and professional English (C1). Hybrid work is possible with travel within Italy and abroad.

Skyray is strengthening its team in Italy and is recruiting an experienced Engineer to play a key technical expert role on large-scale PV, BESS and HV grid-connected projects.

General Information

• Position: Expert Engineer - PV & BESS
• Location: Milan, Italy (partial remote working possible)
• Contract: Permanent contract
• Start date: As soon as possible
• Travel: Occasional (in Italy and abroad)
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in engineering applied to renewable energy projects, Italian Engineer License is necessary

Role Objective

As part of the growth of our activities in Italy, we are looking for an Expert Engineer to strengthen our local team and contribute to the development of large-scale PV and BESS projects.

You will join a small and growing local team currently, working in close collaboration with Skyray’s international engineering teams across Europe.

The role combines electrical engineering and detailed design activities, project and construction support, and contribution to the progressive development of Skyray’s activities in Italy.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Studies & Detailed Design

• Participate in electrical studies and detailed design activities for utility-scale PV and BESS projects;
• Produce, coordinate or review electrical studies and design documentation during development and execution phases;
• Support MV/HV grid connection topics and regulatory compliance;
• Contribute to the preparation and validation of project technical documentation.
• Support technical activities related to permitting and execution phases in Italy

Project & Construction Support

• Support tender activities and project development phases;
• Coordinate technical exchanges with EPC contractors, suppliers and partners;
• Participate occasionally in construction site visits, FAT/SAT and commissioning activities.

Collaboration & Activity Development

• Work closely with Skyray teams across Europe;
• Contribute to the progressive development of Skyray’s activities in Italy;
• Participate in knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of methods, processes and tools.

Profile We Are Looking For

Required Education & Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering. (Mechanical and Civil Engineering with vocational qualifications on renewable energy are also appreciated);
• 7-12 years of experience as designer, project engineer, technical support on utility-scale PV and BESS projects;
• Strong understanding of electrical studies and execution design activities;
• Knowledge of Italian electrical regulations and standards;
• Fluent Italian and professional English.

Appreciated Technical Skills

• Experience in utility-scale PV detailed design needed for permitting and construction design;
• Experience in dealing with third parties during permitting phase (PAS, AU) and secondary permitting in Italy;
• Experience with grid connection process with the Italian E-distribuzione and TERNA;
• Experience on BESS projects;
• Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Caneco or equivalent, PVsyst, and electrical calculation/simulation tools (DigSilent).
