UNESCO's World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seeks an Executive Director to lead TWAS from Trieste ICTP, directing strategic and operational activities, and guiding international scientific cooperation for sustainable development.

The post requires 15+ years in scientific leadership, strong fundraising, and the ability to build partnerships with global institutions, governments and donors to advance science in developing countries.

Competenze

• PhD in a discipline related to natural sciences.
• Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in scientific research and administration, including international work.
• Proven leadership in human resources and finance management.
• Experience fundraising from governments and international funding bodies.

Mansioni

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for TWAS programmes.
• Coordinate work with UNESCO-hosted organizations (OWSD, IAP) and related networks.
• Develop synergies with UNESCO programmes in sciences and innovation for sustainable development.
• Lead resource mobilization efforts with governments and donors.
• Act as secretary to the TWAS Steering Committee and the TWAS Council.
