SYS-DAT Group is seeking a SYSTEM ENGINEER to join the IT team in Modena. You will manage Windows Server and Linux systems, oversee VMware/Hyper-V, and handle Microsoft 365/Azure AD with hybrid Exchange.

The role includes backup, DR (Veeam), and cybersecurity tasks, working with vendors and customers, including off-site locations. You will collaborate across IT to maintain infrastructure, document tasks, and implement improvements, while enjoying a flexible work arrangement that may include

SYSTEM ENGINEER

We are looking for a candidate to join the IT team, based primarily in Modena, who possesses the following technical and soft skills for the role of systems engineer. The candidate will be part of a young, dynamic, and team-oriented work environment.

Liability

• Management, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server and Linux systems
• Administration of VMware/Hyper-V Virtualization Environments and Physical Servers
• Management of Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and hybrid Exchange environments
• Configuration and Monitoring of Storage, Backup, and Disaster Recovery Solutions (Veeam)
• Network and firewall management support (VLANs, VPNs, security policies)
• Collaboration on cybersecurity activities (EDR/XDR, antispam, logging, and SIEM)
• Second- and third-level ticket management, troubleshooting, and support for critical systems

Requirements – Technical Skills (Hard Skills)

, Operating Systems, and Virtualization

• Windows Server: Installation, Configuration, and Management (Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP)
• Linux: Basic Administration (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS) for Server Services
• Virtualization: experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V, including cluster management
• Servers: Management of HPE, Dell, and Lenovo physical servers using built-in management tools and basic knowledge of hardware and rack mounting

Messaging & Cloud Collaboration

• Managing hybrid Exchange on-premises environments connected to Microsoft 365 (Office 365).
• O365 Tenant Administration: Managing Licenses, Users, Groups, and Identities (Sign-In ID / Azure AD).
• Storage & Backup
• Configuration and maintenance of SANs (iSCSI/Fibre Channel) and VMware vSAN / third-party Windows VSAN.
• Management of backup and disaster recovery strategies, with a focus on Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Cybersecurity
• Implementation and monitoring of EDR/XDR solutions.
• Management of anti-spam systems and email gateways.
• Basic knowledge of and experience with SIEM systems for log analysis and correlation.

Networking & Firewalls

• L2/L3 Device Configuration (Cisco/Aruba Switches): VLANs, trunking, port security, spanning tree.
• Concepts of routing, NAT, VPN, and firewall policy rules (Fortinet, Palo Alto, WatchGuard, Check Point, Sophos).

AI Tools

• Knowledge of AI-based tools to support troubleshooting, automation, and documentation.

• Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical approach to diagnosing and resolving failures in critical systems.
• Effective management of stress and priorities during incidents, downtime, and urgent tasks.
• Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with IT colleagues, help desk staff, developers, and external vendors.
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users and to draft technical documentation and procedures.
