FAO is seeking an Emergency Coordinator (Consultant) to lead emergency response activities across multiple locations. The role oversees coordination of the Emergency Response Team, action planning, and collaboration with government, UN agencies, NGOs and donors to strengthen resilience and respond to crises.

The incumbent will develop and monitor country strategies, support budget and programme development, and ensure timely execution of FAO emergency operations in fragile contexts.

Competenze

• University degree in business/public administration, political or social sciences, agronomy, natural resources management or related field.
• At least seven years of relevant experience in programming, planning and technical cooperation in food and agriculture, including work in developing countries.
• Working knowledge of English or French (level C).

Mansioni

• Provide leadership on emergency and rehabilitation as part of resilience work in the country; preparedness, needs assessment, response, programming, implementation and resource mobilization.
• Lead and coordinate the Emergency Response Team; establish country objectives and monitor progress through planning meetings and action plans.
• Promote FAO’s resilience with government, UN agencies, NGOs and donors; liaise with partners on priority actions.
• Review documents, identify issues, propose corrective actions, and track follow-up actions.
• Assist in policy development, including analysis of issues and trends and impact evaluations.
• Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analyses, reports and publications.
