Bertrandt Group in Rome seeks an Embedded C++ Software Engineer to support development of real-time, safety-critical systems for defence programs. You will design, develop and validate software on embedded platforms running Linux and RTOS, collaborating with hardware, validation and system teams.

The role requires strong C++ knowledge, experience with embedded Linux, RTOS environments and software integration, testing and documentation.

Competenze

• Degree in Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related disciplines.
• Proven Embedded Software Development experience.
• Strong knowledge of C++ and Python.
• Experience with Embedded Linux environments and RTOS architectures.
• Knowledge of VxWorks or similar OS.
• Strong multithreading, concurrency and networking understanding.
• Experience with serial communications and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with GitHub, Jenkins and CMake; Jira/Confluence helpful.
• Good English communication skills.

What We Are Looking For

For a leading international Defence company based in Rome, we are looking for an Embedded C++ Software Engineer to support the development of advanced real-time and safety-critical systems.

The selected candidate will be involved in the design, development, integration and validation of software applications running on embedded platforms based on Linux and RTOS technologies, contributing to mission-critical Defence programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software applications in C++;
• Implement software solutions for real-time and safety-critical systems;
• Develop and integrate software components on Linux and VxWorks platforms;
• Design and optimize multithreaded applications and synchronization mechanisms;
• Develop communication interfaces and networking functionalities;
• Manage serial communications and protocol integration activities;
• Support software integration, testing and troubleshooting activities;
• Collaborate with hardware, system engineering and validation teams;
• Produce and maintain technical documentation according to project standards;
• Contribute to software verification and validation activities.

Requirements

Mandatory

• Degree in Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related disciplines;
• Proven experience in Embedded Software Development;
• Strong knowledge of C++;
• Good knowledge of Python;
• Experience with Embedded Linux environments;
• Experience with RTOS architectures and real-time systems;
• Knowledge of VxWorks or similar OS;
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency and synchronization mechanisms;
• Experience with communication protocols and networking concepts;
• Experience with serial communication interfaces;
• Knowledge of Git Hub;
• Experience with Jenkins and CMake;
• Experience in software integration, testing and troubleshooting;
• Good English communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience in Defence, Aerospace, Railway or other safety-critical environments;
• Experience in writing and maintaining technical documentation;
• Knowledge of requirements and documentation management tools (DOORS or similar);
• Experience working in Agile environments;
• Knowledge of Jira and Confluence;
• Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and automated software delivery processes.

Yearly Gross Salary: €40,000 - €50,000
