Job summary

Leonardo Helicopters seeks a System Integration Specialist in Varese to support R&D in electrification and propulsion. You will integrate inputs from multiple specialists, manage system configurations and lead design reviews through to in-flight demonstrations of new electrical propulsion concepts.

The role requires a STEM background, DO160 knowledge, MATLAB/Simulink and strong English; Italian proficiency is essential. Hybrid work and a comprehensive package are offered.

Qualifications

• STEM degree, preferably Master in Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering.
• Aircraft installation/qualification standards knowledge (e.g. DO160).
• MATLAB/Simulink and/or NI/LabVIEW knowledge.
• Fluent English; Italian mother tongue or full proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the technology incubation process up to industrialization handover (TRL 1-6).
• Lead the system integration process from requirement capture to interface specification.
• Manage the system prototype configuration, development, qualification, installation and acceptance.
• Coordinate with partners and suppliers on assigned projects.

For our Helicopters Division we are looking for a System Integration Specialist.

Reporting to the Technology & Innovation (T&I) Management of Leonardo Helicopters, the candidate will support multiple R&D projects in the field of electrification and propulsion. In this role the candidate will have the opportunity to deal with innovative solutions at the cutting edge of helicopter industry. More specifically, the candidate will integrate the contributions coming from the different specialists and manage the system configuration through the design review process, up to in flight demonstration of new electrical and propulsion system concepts.

Main activities:

• Participate to the technology incubation process up to the industrialization handover (TRL 1-6)
• Lead the system integration process from requirement capture, through architecture definition, to interface specification
• Manage the sys. prototype configuration, development, qualification, installation and acceptance (either in house or externally - by contract)
• Keep track of the numerical simulation and experimental test results as means of compliance to the system requirements
• Support the project reviews with technical reports, presentations and system integration status
• Coordinate with internal and external partners or suppliers, on the assigned projects

HARD SKILLS:

• STEM degree (preferably master in Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering).
• Aircraft installation and qualification standards knowledge (e.g. DO160).
• MATLAB/Simulink and/or NI/LabVIEW knowledge.
• Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Italian mother tongue, or full proficiency.

SOFT SKILLS:

• Familiarity with the company product portfolio

THE SELECTION PROCESS

How does the selection process work?

Following the application collection phase, the CVs that best match the required qualifications will be evaluated and shortlisted.

Selected candidates will take part in an introductory interview with the Human Resources team, focusing on motivation and aptitude, followed by an in-depth technical interview with the relevant Business function.
